COGNOS INSTALLATION STEPS

Follow these steps to install cognos Successfully :

1, Insert cognos cd into your CD Drive.

2, Go to C:\c8bimodel_win32_8.4.27.78_ml\win32 to install Modelling

3, Hit Next on welcome screen with language English selected.

4, select i agree button on licence window and hit next

5, Click Next On installation location window.

6, when Prompted Click YES and YES again and Click NEXT on component selection window

7, Select NEXT on shortcut folder window. Click NEXT again and click finish

Once Installation is completed then GOTO SQL Enterprise-Manager

Create Content Management Database AS BELOW

1, Right click on Databases -> new and give as cm (case sensitive)

2, click ok

Now Goto Cognos Configuration

1, Under Content-Mgr, Delete existing content store and create new content manager with database name as cm

NOTE : YOU NEED TO GIVE THE SAME NAME AS IN CONTENT MANAGER DATABASE IN SQL

And type box, make sure you select Microsoft sql server database (windows authentication)

Click on Save and close

Create Virtual Directories

Create 3 virtual Directories on the IIS Server (Rt click on my computer -> manage->services &Appli-> IIS->WEBSITES ->RT CLICK ON DEFAULT WEBSITE->NEW

1) Cognos8 – Point it to D:\Program Files\Cognos\c8\webcontents

2) D:\Program Files\Cognos\c8\cgi-bin

3) D:\Program Files\Cognos\c8\webcontent\documentation

Make sure that cgi-bin directory is created under Cognos8 directory

Similarly Documentation virtual Directory should also be under Cognos 8

NOW GO TO COGNOS CONFIGURATION AND START SERVICES BY CLICKING GREEN BUTTON ON MENU BAR

OPEN INTERNET EXPLORER AND TYPE http://localhost/Cognos8.4/

THIS NAME SHOULD BE SAME ON YOU R CONFIGURATION WINDOW IN GATEWAY URL BOX

NOW YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED COGNOS ON YOUR MACHINE
